Life Update and 2020 Goals

I started January by creating my blog. I was a stay at home mom that felt like I was lacking a creative outlet. Since I can remember I have always had a creative outlet, crafts when I was a kid, modeling as I grew up, Djing and having a food blog. I always try to keep myself busy.

When I started the blog I thought it was going to be easy since I had a food blog in the past and Squarespace made it SO easy. This time I chose to go with WordPress.org which is a lot more complicated but it can have a lot of benefits in the long run. I have watched lots of youtube videos on how to manage a WordPress blog, hosting, designing a site adding plugins, etc! While it has taken a lot of time I’m happy with what I have done with it so far. In addition to the blog, I also started planning my husband’s surprise 40th birthday party which was a success!

The springtime included some travel and my first Mother’s Day. Along with the news that we got the green light on my husband relocating to AZ. After this I started making a mental list of my “New York Bucket List.” Things I wanted to see and experience in this amazing city.

The summer included our “honeymoon” in Italy and Greece. It was technically our honeymoon but we brought our daughter. She definitely changed the dynamics of our trip but I’m really happy we brought her with us. We got to experience these beautiful countries as a family. It was when she had just learned to walk so she explored a little on her own and danced on some of the town squares. The hotels I choose had a nice terrace with a view or a new space for my husband and me to hang out after she fell asleep. In a way, we oftentimes had our own rooftop instead of going to a trendy one for a drink.

The fall was spent doing a lot of research on moving and logistics. We decided to go with a short term lease while we found a home to purchase. Even in the summer, I was already browsing for homes online. In October we said farewell to our friends and headed to Arizona.

The end of fall/winter has really felt like being in limbo. We left some boxes unpacked since we knew we would be moving again. This doesn’t make our apartment feel like home. I didn’t even feel like putting up a Christmas tree since we would be moving but my husband insisted we did it for our daughter. She really liked it and I actually enjoyed putting the tree up since it’s become a tradition to pick up ornaments when we travel. With time and what seemed like forever, we found a home we liked and I’m thriller to say we closed on our first home!! We should hopefully be moving in at the end of January (fingers crossed).

My Goals for this new year:

Continue to spend more one on one time with my hubby. (yay babysitter)

Be more consistent with blog posts and follow through with creative ideas that I have and don’t follow through with.

Create a playroom for my daughter so she can have her own space. In our current space and in New York we shared the living room so I’m hoping to create a cute environment that is just for her. Not to mention we will enjoy fewer toys in the livingroom.

On that note, I want to be more organized. My husband is the type of person that knows the exact location of an item no matter what it is. I’m the type of person that has to go on a scavenger hunt to find something. I tend to get distracted and place something somewhere for safekeeping and then I have no clue where it is. This is really stressful when I need to find something so this is a major thing that I want to change.

I would also like to get more into decorating for our new home. I don’t have the nesting gene that some people have or maybe not the eye for it. I’ve never felt like setting roots anywhere but now I feel like I need to get more into it and I have a big project ahead with our a new home.

Worry less, I tend to think of worst-case scenarios. This is helpful when making a decision but sometimes it lingers and doesn’t serve any purpose. I would like to think positive more often than worrying about what-ifs. This is going to be harder than the other things on my list because it’s internal so I’ll take it day by day.

Finally, and I feel like this goes without saying but I would like to commit to going to the gym at least 4 times a week. When I’m at home, I mostly want to relax and not do anything so it would be good to wake up earlier at least 4 times a week to avoid procrastination later in the day.

There you have it, a year in review and a new beginning. I added my goals for 2020 to make me accountable. I hope everyone had a great 2019 and an even more amazing 2020!
