Kennebunkport is a cute city with lots to offer for my fellow foodies. Seriously if you love seafood this is the place for you.

Ogunquit: Pit Stop
The great thing about taking a long road trip from New York is that there are tons of places to stop by along the way. Many of these will include tasty seafood. We made a stop to grab a bite to eat in Ogunquit. We started our Maine food coma at Barnacle Billy’s. We ordered lobster rolls, clam chowder, and Manhattan clam chowder. The lobster rolls are not pictured because it was practically inhaled after it arrived but I will say it was just what we needed! After dinner, we wandered along the docks and watched the sunset before heading out to Kennebunkport.

We arrived at Kennebunkport and checked into our hotel. It was a pleasant surprise to be greeted with champagne. We got settled in and started exploring the next day.
Kennebunkport Where to eat
For Breakfast, we highly enjoyed HP Provisions. They had tasty seafood specials that varied from day-to-day. My favorite ones were the lobster omelet and some sort of crab omelet sandwich. They were pure magic!! The lady that runs HP Provisions is very nice and it’s just such a cute little shop. We picked up a Tote bag and a lobster bloody mary mix.

Arundel Wharf is a good spot for lunch or drinks if you want to sit outdoors by the water. We had oysters, lobster rolls and drinks. It was your standard seafood joint nothing fancy but nice to be by the water and enjoying some food. If you know what I mean.

Mabel’s Lobster Claw is a place to go for mind-blowing lobster! They are huge whole lobsters 1 1/2lbs stuffed with scallops, shrimp, cherry sauce, roasted peppers, and cheese (to name a few). If you come where you must get with one of “Mabels Signatures.”

Ocean Restaurant is the place to go for fine dining. It is located in Cape Arundel Inn and Resort. I had gazpacho, escargot (my favorite) and one of the specials. I can’t say that fine dining is necessary because I think this Kennebunkport is on the casual side but we decided to check it out because it was in our hotel. The view from here is also very gorgeous. We had breakfast here a couple of times as well.

Kennebunkport Where to stay
We stayed at Cape Arundel Inn and Resort. This is a quaint historic Inn with “posh and swanky rooms.” Whoever decorated this place had impeccable taste, it’s very modern and suited to the area. It offers fine dining. They have a sister location which you can bike to that has a pool and lawn games. Our stay was very pleasant because they offer daily events at each location. From chef talks, wine tasting, and other options.

Kennebunkport What to do
Whale watching: This seemed like a great idea. We got up early, dressed warm and were ready to see some whales! Unfortunately, every time we got close to one the captain would charge at it to get a better view and scare it away. This is a good idea but I’d recommend going on a different cruise company. The good thing about this ride is that we got to see more from the water, and Maine is something special. I honestly don’t know what it is about it but I love Maine!

There are many other things to do in Kennebunkport: Book a dinner cruise, go on a walking food tour, hit up the brewery, go on a lobster boat, explore the shops downtown, get a kayak, just to name a few.
Day Trip to Portland
Portland is a good option for a day trip if you are looking to get a different side of Maine. We stayed primarily in the Downtown area which has tons of cute shops to check out.

Holy Donut, one of the popular donut shops since it was walking distance and there was hardly any line. It was pretty good, I didn’t really get what the big deal was about but then again I’m not really a donut person.

Ironically, I found a good selection of guajillo peppers from SKORDO that I took home (I didn’t expect to find this in Maine).

It started raining so we decided to drive around to a couple of vintage and antique shops. We also checked out the Victoia Mansion since it was something to do indoors.

Kennebunkport, Maine has scenic views and delicious food (the perfect mix). Whether you are single, taken and/or have kids this is a place for everyone. I highly recommend visiting Kennebunkport or any surrounding area in Maine.
