When my husband and I got engaged we knew right away that we wanted to have a destination wedding. We both love to travel and hated the idea of having a big party where we couldn’t enjoy our wedding.
Here are 5 reasons why we choose to have a destination wedding.
1. Win win for Everyone!
A destination wedding means more fun for everyone. Your wedding can turn into a vacation where your close friends and family can enjoy getting to know each other. It will be more memorable. Plus, if you have family spread out throughout the country, it gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy a new destination.
2. Quality vs Quantity
A destination wedding usually means an intimate group setting. Personally, I knew I didn’t want to meet my husband’s distant cousin or aunt in a setting that is loud and un-personal. Yelling over music, that is not good!
When you have a destination wedding you have time to meet your significant other’s family or friends in a more laid back environment that allows for actual conversation.
3. More Bang for your Buck
A destination wedding also gives you the ability to choose a location that is going to be more affordable. In our case, the cost of a New York wedding was absurd. Even if you have a small wedding it’s still pretty ridiculous. I’m more on the practical side and can’t justify spending that much money on one or two days. I would rather use spend that one traveling.
4. It’s your day, Enjoy it!
Your wedding is going to be over so quickly. All the months of planning to have it go by in a fast blur. If you have a small group you are able to actually have fun at your wedding. You deserve it, give yourself a break!
5. Wedding and Honeymoon in 1
This is a bonus! If you are already at a beautiful destination why not have your honeymoon there too?
